Carleton’s Computing and Communication Services (CCS) offers ongoing assistance to Carleton’s graduate students.
If they are experiencing technical problems, they have their own extension to call: 613-520-3700. Then select extension 2 for computing issues and ext. 1 for grad students.
Graduate students have priority in two computer labs – 808 Dunton and A420 Loeb.
They can also borrow one of 80 laptops set aside for all students in MacOdrum Library’s Learning Commons.
If you are a Mac user, CCS provides Mac support Every Tuesday and Thursday from 8:30 a.m. – noon at 1251 Herzberg. For more information, please visit the CCS website.
This month, Carleton will launch a new email system, Carleton Email, that will enhance email services to both graduate and undergraduate students. The new email features 10 GB of storage (currently students have 30 MB), advanced search functionality and mobile capability. Carleton worked hard to ensure any privacy risks were addressed. For more information, including general and privacy FAQs, visit THIS SITE and THIS SITE.
As part of the Carleton Email sign-up process, grad students will be required to create their ‘MyCarletonOne’ username and password. MyCarletonOne is a university-wide identity and access management initiative that will simplify and secure access to Carleton’s IT applications and services. More information on this initiative is available at: Carleton.ca/mycarletonone.
This new user name and password will allow graduate students access to:
* the MyCarleton Portal (which provides access to WebCT, Carleton Central, Carleton Email and campus announcements)
* Carleton’s wireless network
* computer labs and kiosks
* Home directory storage accessible from anywhere on the campus network
* VPN for access to on-campus files and programs
All students can stay informed about technology news on campus by subscribing to the CCS RSS feed, or follow CCS on twitter @Carleton_IT.
