The Sprott PhD in Management is centred on applied research on complex management problems in an interdisciplinary context. We teach the skills to address complex management issues by taking a system-level approach and by drawing upon resources and ideas from multiple functional areas.

Our program offers a number of interdisciplinary, issue-focused courses that provide a holistic perspective to defining and solving problems. At the same time, you are able to ground your learning and research in selected functional areas. We offer integrative courses not commonly found in other PhD programs focusing on interconnections between disparate phenomena.

In the program, you’ll have the opportunity to participate in a seminar series on current management problems involving business and government leaders and academic researchers. In addition, you’ll take part in a teaching education seminar series with the opportunity to gain teaching experience.

Sprott’s PhD in Management is the only management doctoral program in Canada that can be taken on a part-time basis.

Ottawa’s knowledge-based sectors continue to grow with over 1,900 companies, specializing in sectors such as financial services, telecommunications, cleantech, life sciences, aerospace and defence, as well as film, TV and digital media.

Accreditation

The Sprott School of Business is accredited by AACSB International – the longest-serving global accrediting body for business schools that offer undergraduate, master’s and doctorate degrees in business and accounting. AACSB Accreditation is the hallmark of excellence in business education and has been earned by less than five per cent of the world’s business programs.
