Carleton’s Master of Engineering Practice (EP) is a full-time, course-based program designed to advance technical engineering knowledge and strengthen the professional skills needed to succeed in today’s engineering workforce. With a particular focus on internationally-trained engineers who completed their undergraduate studies outside the Canadian Accreditation System, EP builds on students’ prior academic experience while helping prepare them for professional engineering careers in Canada.
As one of the first and only programs of its kind in Canada, Engineering Practice is unique in its emphasis on employment-oriented skills within an engineering framework. The program combines advanced applied engineering coursework with complementary studies in areas such as project management, engineering communications, data analytics, climate change and sustainability, helping students develop both specialized technical expertise and practical professional skills.
Students can also pursue a co-op pathway, providing an opportunity to gain paid, full-time work experience in a professional engineering environment, apply their learning in real-world settings and build valuable industry connections.

Financial Aid
Carleton University offers a variety of funding opportunities for graduate students, including internal awards and scholarships. Eligibility requirements and application deadlines vary by award, and students are encouraged to explore available opportunities through Carleton’s Awards and Funding resources.
Students can also explore external awards offered by organizations, agencies and funding councils outside of Carleton. These opportunities typically require a separate application and may have deadlines well in advance of the start of the award.
International students are also encouraged to explore funding opportunities available through their home governments and other organizations in their country of residence. Additional scholarship opportunities for international students may be available through the Government of Canada.
This program is not eligible for the Ontario Student Assistance Program (OSAP) or other provincial financial aid.
