Professional Skill Development
Graduates of this fully online program will be able to:
- Explain and recognize the key geological features and formation processes of all major mineral types;
- Select and justify exploration methods that best acquire the data needed to characterize specific targets;
- Describe and evaluate mining, beneficiation, refining, and waste management options to gauge the feasibility of potential mining projects;
- Estimate and interpret the potential market value of mineral assets;
- Understand and apply economic and financial system concepts to support sound decisions when raising funds for mineral exploration;
- Operate ethically and lawfully within the regulatory frameworks governing mineral exploration.
Industry-Focused Learning with Real-World Application
Students will create real-world deliverables using case studies and exploration-oriented software to showcase their professional portfolios. By the end of the program, students will understand what it takes to bring an exploration project into development and how to decide whether to proceed at all decision points, from target selection to mining.
