The Ottawa-Carleton Chemistry Institute (OCCI) is a joint program of graduate studies and research in chemistry for Carleton University and the University of Ottawa that combines the research strengths and resources of both universities. The Institute offers degrees in all areas of chemistry, including biochemistry, analytical, inorganic, organic, physical and theoretical chemistry. Learn more about Ottawa-Carleton Joint Institutes.
Carleton University has strong concentrations in Food Science, Analytical Chemistry and Nanoscience. Students enroll at the university where their research supervisor is located. Several graduate students also conduct their research off campus under the supervision of one of the Institute’s adjunct professors.
Collaborative Specializations in Biochemistry and Chemical and Environmental Toxicology are also available.
Opportunity for Direct-from-Bachelor PhD Entry
Exceptional applicants may be considered for direct entry into our PhD program, offering the opportunity to begin doctoral studies directly after completing an undergraduate degree, based on academic preparation and research experience.
